Our story
Where the river meets the mountain
Gangsan (강산) means "rivers and mountains" — nature that holds and embraces all things. Like a mother's arms, like a father's steady presence. That is the spirit we named our restaurant after, and the spirit we hope you feel the moment you walk through our doors.
Gangsan was founded by two longtime friends who have each devoted the better part of their lives to food.
One is a chef whose career spans more than twenty years across the culinary world — from hotel kitchens to running his own restaurants as an owner. Trained across diverse culinary traditions, he brings both the discipline of fine dining and the instincts of a seasoned restaurateur to every plate. For him, cooking has never been just a profession; it is a craft he has spent a lifetime refining.
The other has spent nearly twenty years in the kitchen, steadily building his craft — and just as much skill in running a restaurant, from the front of the house to everything behind it. His story began in his mother's kitchen, watching her cook every day — never in a hurry, never cutting corners, always with care. Her food wasn't fancy. It was honest. It said you are loved without saying a word. That memory remains the standard every dish at Gangsan is measured against.
Together, they share one belief: that a restaurant is built not on trends, but on trust — honest ingredients, honest cooking, and honest relationships with the people we serve.
At Gangsan, we want every guest to feel what we felt at our mothers' tables: welcomed, nourished, and cared for. Whether it's your first time trying Korean food or a taste of home you've been missing, there is a seat for you here.
Come as you are. Leave feeling embraced.
